Description
Characterization of the molecular weight and of the spatial extent of chain molecules.
› Course's contents :
1. Introduction :
a. Reminders,
b. Molecular weights and molecular weight averages,
c. Measurement of molecular weights.
2. Polymer conformations
3. Light scattering by polymer solutions
Objectifs
At the end of this course, you will be able to :
- Describe and chose methods to characterize the distribution of molecular weights,
- Describe the three-dimensional shape of polymers; link the average size to the molecular weight,
- Use light scattering to measure the average molecular weight, the radius of gyration as well as monomer-monomer and monomer-solvent interactions.
