Description
In the first part of the semester, this teaching unit will introduce the students to microscopy techniques through a series of lectures.
In the second part, the students will use Atomic Force Microscopy to analyse a sample in a short project.
Objectifs
At the end of yhis course, you will be able to :
- Describe Electron Microscopy, Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy,
- Explain the working principles and the limitations of these techniques,
- Choose the adequate technique for a given scientific question et explain why,
- Perform a short Surface Analysis Using AFM,
- Analyse and report about the literature in microscopy.

Pré-requis obligatoires
Good understanding of solid state physics and solid state chemistry.

First session : 100% written final exam.
Project / bibliography.
