Description

In the first part of the semester, this teaching unit will introduce the students to microscopy techniques through a series of lectures.

In the second part, the students will use Atomic Force Microscopy to analyse a sample in a short project.

Objectifs

At the end of yhis course, you will be able to : 

  • Describe Electron Microscopy, Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy, 
  • Explain the working principles and the limitations of these techniques, 
  • Choose the adequate technique for a given scientific question et explain why, 
  • Perform a short Surface Analysis Using AFM, 
  • Analyse and report about the literature in microscopy.
